Wearing an Invisalign® aligner will give you the smile you have been seeking, without the inconvenience of wearing traditional metal braces. So how do you care for your smile aligner? Your aligner will only stay clean, pristine, and invisible if you take good care of it. To help you keep your appliance in tip-top shape, Dr. Sarah Frye is happy to give you the tips and advice you need!
-Rinse your aligner with water right after you remove it. Rinsing it will help keep the plaque and saliva from creating a breeding ground for odor-causing bacteria. Brush your aligner gently. If you brush too vigorously, it can scratch the appliance and leave visible etchings.
-Soak your aligner to keep it clean and sanitized. It’s best to soak it in denture cleaner, Retainer Brite, or the official Invisalign cleaning crystals.
-Brush and floss your teeth before you put the aligner back into your mouth. Because the aligner is form fitting, it’s important to keep up on oral hygiene. If you don’t, there is a chance that harmful particles can get trapped between your teeth and aligner, which can cause dental problems in the future.
